Just when we thought that the use of camouflage on Winjeels was well covered (the camouflaged Winjeels used for FAC training being well known), images of Winjeel A85-453 with Dark Green areas painted over the original Silver airframe taken during Air Force Week at Point Cook VIC in 1964 surfaced (see Odditty 93 in the last issue). The opposition to A85-453 which acted a the 'Goodie' in a mock dogfight with a 'Baddie is this airframe. The serial is not known as it was kept hidden away in a hangar and brought out only briefly for the show and not put on public display.
It was painted Black overall with a few incidental markings in White. The serials were covered with Dayglow panels keeping it anonymous and no one appears to have taken notes at the time. No national markings appear to be carried. Would make a very different model (text Steve - Editor).
